The abbey church
The Abbey Church of Saint-Antoine is considered as one of the best examples of Gothic architecture in South East France.
It was mostly built between the XIIIth and XVth Centuries.
This building corresponds to the architectural particularities of the great pilgrimage churches of the Middle Ages.
Its outside elevation perfectly reflects Gothic tendencies in their heyday, as evidenced by its sheer verticality.
The intensely rich inside decoration is naturally breath-taking.
There is an impressive collection of Antonin objets d'art In the adjacent sacristies.
The latter, knwon as the Treasure, are tangible evidence of the past glory of this Order.
In 1840 this church was registered as a historic monument by Prosper Mérimée.
