The high street
The so-called « Haute rue » crossed the upper part of the village.
In the Middle Ages this was the noble and bourgeois quarter.
Jérôme de Monteux lived here. He was Lord of Miribel and physician to King François 1er.
There were also numerous surgeons and apothecaries. From the XVIIth Century on
the High street became the main road of the upper village.
The old houses were renovated and for some people became authentic town mansions.
The merchant bourgeois classes, mainly in the textile industry, settled here.
