The covered market

The covered market was the economic heart of the lower village. It was a vast covered structure for the grain trade.

Lodges were installed and functioned as shops. In 1600 its timbers had to be refurbished. It was slowly left to ruin and was eventually destroyed in the 18^th Century. The present-day covered market was built in the beginning of the 19^th Century.
